Indian Institute of Technology Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation (IITM PTF) has partnered with Sony India Software Center Private limited to equip students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with industry-ready technical skills. The course named “Sony India Finishing School Skill Development Training Program” aims to provide training in certain areas such as Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), Cyber Security and Computer Graphics in addition to Communication Skills. company.
“This program aims to bridge the knowledge and skills gap that exists between graduate students and industry requirements. We hope that many students, especially from non-urban parts of India, will benefit from this initiative,” said V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras.
According to the official statement, the course is offered free of charge and interested candidates can apply online through the official website of the institute. Through this collaboration, Sony India Software Center will extend employment to the top 15 students in the course while Pravartak Technologies Foundation will help the remaining students to get placed in other companies by arranging their interviews through IITM PTF Placement Cell.
Also, the statement mentions that the student selection process is based on the academic performance of engineering graduates who passed in 2020-2021, 2021-2022 with a cumulative minimum of 60% in all exams and whose parents have an annual income below RS. . 8,000,000.
In addition, a written entrance exam would also be held followed by an interview. Students who pass the assessment with the highest score are eligible for a stipend under the training program, the statement said.
The duration of the course is approximately six months. According to the statement, it will be a full-time course, delivered in physical mode in classrooms provided by IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. Certificates will be provided to students who successfully complete the training program, the statement added.
