Louis C. Hochman

Louis has been a New Jersey journalist and editor for more than two decades who believes that a community news organization best serves its audience by embracing the values ​​of inclusion, equity, and solution-oriented journalism. He is invited to lecture at area colleges and universities on journalistic ethics, the evolution of digital journalism, and the work required to earn public trust in a 24/7 media world. He co-created, filmed, and produced “Heroin Uncut: The Truth About the Crisis,” a video and podcast series that won the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction’s “Truth in Media” award in 2017. Agencies. He has won multiple awards from the New Jersey Press Association and chapters of the Society for Professional Journalists for news writing, video production, print design, and interactive digital media. He lives with his partner and their three cats, about whom and about whom he speaks constantly. Lou enjoys an expensive irresponsible hobby and occasional secondary vocation as a photographer; his work can be seen on LCHPhoto.com. His pronouns are him and him. He prefers “Lou” to Louis in casual conversation, but really, anything other than “Louie” is OK.

Jaimie is an award-winning journalist and editor who has worked for New York area weeklies, dailies, magazines and digital news sites including The Ridgewood News, Community News, South Bergenite, The Record, NorthJersey.com , Our Meadowlands Magazine and Montclair Local. . She has over 20 years of experience cultivating stories that affect readers, as well as bringing about political and social change. She strives for the most compelling and humanistic side of a story, and feels a strong responsibility to readers to deliver only the highest journalistic standards. These stories have won more than 85 awards from the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists and the New Jersey Press Association.

Talia Wiener – Journalist

Talia (her) is a generalist reporter for the local Montclair chapter and is always looking for ways to see stories through a solutions journalism lens. She has spent time in newsrooms of all sizes and scopes. From National Public Radio in Washington DC to Transitions Online in Prague, Talia has written globally and in every field. She has written about native language revitalization in Alaska, social justice marches in Washington, and land use in Charlottesville, Virginia. Most recently, she worked for the Public Herald, a nonprofit investigative news organization covering fracking in the United States. A 2019 investigation with the organization caused a public outcry, served as evidence in an attorney general’s investigation, and led a state congresswoman to draft a bill dealing with the issues covered in the article.

In her spare time, Talia enjoys rollerblading, making gluten-free pasta and buying records.

Joe Dziublenski – Editor-in-Chief

Joe worked for over 35 years as an editor for The Bergen Record. He held various supervisory positions, supervising teams of writers who covered municipal, regional and specialty beats. He was a member of editing teams that oversaw a series of investigative, feature and special features that won national, state and regional awards. He has a particular interest in working with young journalists and was associated for many years with the state high school press association. He was co-founder and coordinator of The Record’s Journalism Day program, through which more than 2,750 high school newspaper employees visited the paper for tours and seminars between 1991 and 2017.

Andrea Bondy — Paginator

Andrea worked for many years in the graphic design field, beginning her career at a major New Jersey advertising agency. Responsibilities included meeting with customers and managing the production schedule and production staff. From there, with a partner, she founded a graphic design studio, offering the production of print design and web design projects for a variety of clients that included companies in the fields of fashion, photography, music, newspapers and charity.

In 2006, she took a part-time position with the North Jersey Media Group, doing paging for the Essex County weekly newspapers. On leaving Gannett, she was invited to join the staff of Montclair Local, doing paging for the then newly founded newspaper. Caring for and following the activities of her five grandsons are her passions

Sales and Operations

Jack Marflak – Director of Operations and Sales

Jack has over 30 years of sales and management experience and has worked for numerous media companies in New Jersey, including The Star-Ledger, NJ Advance Media, Worall Publications and North Jersey Media Group. He has extensive experience in print and digital advertising, and has also owned his own marketing business for over 10 years, serving Montclair and greater suburban Essex County.

Scott Drukker – Advertising Account Manager

A longtime resident of Montclair, Scott served as a newspaper sales representative in that area for nearly four decades, developing deep community ties and strong business relationships throughout Essex County. Prior to Montclair Local, he worked for the Montclair Times and the North Jersey Media Group from 2000 to 2017. He is also the founder of the Verona and Cedar Grove Chambers of Commerce, and owner of The Great Scott! Magic show.
