Slater had the chance to speak with Public Works Commissioner Ricardo Morales on a bunch of topics, including the Tyler Street roundabout on Monday.

Construction has started on the Woodlawn St. side and according to Morales the new roundabout will be operational “in a few weeks”.

You have probably noticed that we have been working on one side, and now we have turned to working on the other side. Give it a few weeks and we’ll have the roundabout up and running.

Some work still needs to be done, you know the last stages of construction, but it would be operational.

Next year we will be returning with the rest of Tyler St., from the new roundabout to First St.

Edging line changes, stops, all your standards for traffic calming measures we designed for Tyler St. -Ricardo Morales

The proposed roundabout for the First / Stoddard intersection just in front of BMC will start in 2023.

Morales also mentioned that for North St. to return to two lanes of traffic on both sides, it would require data showing that vehicle crashes are on the rise and overall safety is deteriorating.
