Are you even surprised at the recognition these horned frogs are getting? It’s because they kill it with their killer instinct of being a killer frog! Hopefully they are well respected by other schools as they are in pursuit of a national title.
Three horned frogs from the No. 4 TCU Beach Volleyball Team have been named to the All-Conference Preseason Team, the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) announced. Second year up Daniela Alvarez was selected as preseason player of the year and one of three unanimous selections from all conferences. Second year Tania Moreno and senior Hailey Brocket were also named to the All-Conference team.
This is the first preseason conference and the first preseason selections Player of the Year for TCU Beach Volleyball in the program’s eight-year history.
Alvarez, a 2021 first-team All-American, posted a 27-9 record last season, including a 26-9 record with Moreno in the No. 1 pairing. Moreno was also named All-American from the first team last season, becoming the second freshman duo to be named All-Americans in award history. They were the first Horned Frog duo to be named to the All-American first team and the first duo from a Texas school to receive such recognition.
Brockett is entering her fourth season with the Horned Frogs as the preseason all-conference award winner, following her record-breaking 2021 season. Brockett earned second-team All-American status after posting the biggest record in TCU beach volleyball history (28-5) on the No. 2 pair. She set program records for the most wins in a single season, the most ranked wins in a single season (13) and became the first horned frog duo to win an NCAA championship game, when they defeated LSU’s No. the second round of the tournament.
Next : The Horned Frogs will kick off the 2022 season this Saturday (February 26) at the Seminole Beach Bash in Tallahassee, Fla. . TCU will host its home opener the following weekend, March 4-5, at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts.
