USFL: Mid-Season Big Board Update – Offense

We’re officially halfway through the 2022 USFL Spring Season, which has had its share of moments. Overall, it has made a positive impression within the football community by providing a platform for players to be seen and serving as a development program to receive much needed representatives. Throughout history, alternate leagues have served as the ultimate springboard for future NFL stars. Here’s a look at some of the USFL’s top prospects, who could be called up to NFL training camps in August. The dream begins with humble beginnings, each with their own journey.

The USFL has been a blessing to players such as Kyle Sloter of the New Orleans Breakers, who has bounced around six different NFL organizations and leads the league in passing. Before a season-ending ACL injury, the Philadelphia Stars quarterback Brian Scott seemed like one of the league’s most impressive signallers, but his replacement Cookus case is even more effective since he took the reins. One of the most exciting developmental quarterbacks in the USFL is Luis Perez of the New Jersey Generals, who found themselves in a rep-splitting timeshare situation with one of the most pleasant surprises yet, DeAndre Johnson of “Last Chance U” fame. Another name to watch for the second half includes vad leewho recently signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers.

New Jersey Generals Compact Runner Darius Victor became the most polished defenseman due to his ability to pound the rock between tackles and make plays out of the backfield as a wide receiver. He would seem to translate well as a very effective third in the NFL. Some other notable players who perform well include CJ Marable Birmingham stallions and Régie Corbin Michigan Panthers. Newly signed Bo Scarbrough joins Marable in the Stallions backfield and is coming off his first game of the season on limited duty, but will be one to watch in the second half of the season. After crossing over to the European Football League (ELF) last summer, the former Tennessee/Michigan State runner mother london had its ups and downs this spring as a point guard with the Pittsburgh Maulers.

Birmingham Stallions stand out at everything Victor Bolden Jr. has been a weapon in the passing game and as a returning man, expect to see him in an NFL training camp in August. The same could be said of its counterpart marlon williams, which became a gamebreaker for the Stallions. When you take into consideration the New Orleans Breakers point guard’s height, athleticism and vertical play jonathan adams, it would seem to define the prototype of the NFL. His Breakers teammate, former Ohio State speed burner Johnnie Dixon is back to his old tricks, burning defenders deep on a regular basis. A pair of former college teammates teamed up in the USFL, as former San Jose State players. Tre Walker and Bailey Gather joined forces for the Pittsburgh Maulers. Both players are in the top 10 in receiving yards despite being on the league’s worst offensive team. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Bandits used Jonathan Franklin III in a variety of roles, including Wildcat and Kavontae Turpin was also a fun gimmick player to watch as an all-around catcher for the New Jersey Generals.

One of the most exciting players in the USFL was the Tampa Bay Bandits tight end Cheyenne O’Grady who brings pass-catching prowess and has made several great catches in traffic this season. Michigan Panthers Connor Davis proved to be the league’s supreme blocking tight end, while Sal Canella of the New Orleans Breakers has been the most consistent of the group. It has been interesting to follow the development of wide receiver conversion prospects La’Michael Pettway who would seem like the ultimate type of developmental draft worth bringing into an NFL training camp.
